Atorvastatin is used in treating of high cholesterol and also to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, or other heart complications in people with coronary heart disease or type II diabetes.

Contraindications and Precautions
Atorvastatin should be avoided by patients who have low blood pressure, a serious infection, or a history of seizures, metabolism, hormonal, or electrolyte problems, a history of liver problems or alcohol abuse, have recently had major surgery, a serious injury, or a stroke; women who plan to become pregnant.
Atorvastatin may cause the following side effects: mild stomach pain, gas, bloating, stomach upset, heartburn, nausea, stomach pain or upset, constipation, bloating, gas, stuffy nose, itching, skin rash, muscle pain, weakness with fever or flu symptoms.
Atorvastatin should be avoided to be taken along with the following: Antacids,Clofibrate, Colestipol, Cyclosporine, Digoxin, Drugs that suppress the immune system, Erythromycin, Fenofibrate, Fluconazole, Gemfibrozil, Itraconazole, Ketoconazole, Oral contraceptives.
